Wine for the World is a New York-based import and distribution company of thoughtful, delicious wines. We represent winemakers that have a positive impact on the world, in their communities, and on the environment.
While this often coincides with artisanal wines that are organic, minimal intervention, and natural, our philosophy is broader than that. We were founded in 2013 on a philosophy to support diversity—be it regional diversity, or the people behind the wine. Within our portfolio you will find winemakers who are women, people of color, or people part of the LGBTQ+ community- along with carbon neutral wineries, biodynamic champions, and regional pioneers. Our selections are based on quality, responsible social and environmental business practices, and limited production levels.
We also have some fun side projects, like our Drink Your Values Wine Club which we launched in tandem with a Brooklyn retailer, and our collaborative wine brand which serves as a launch pad for up-and-coming winemakers. Our first collaboration was between the esteemed winemakers Helen Keplinger from Napa Valley and Ntsiki Biyela from South Africa. Our collaboration helped Ntsiki launch her now highly regarded international brand, Aslina Wines.
You can find our wines in many major US markets, and we are rapidly expanding. We look forward to introducing you to our limited, powerful, portfolio.
In addition to scouting top producers from each region, we seek winemakers that embrace environmentally sustainable practices because they, like us, philisophically believe that better wine is made without the use of many additives or manipulation. They are certified by local and/or international organizations for sustainable viticulture practices.
Mika Bulmash is WSET Level 3 certified, and started Wine for the World with a passion for wine and a career in development. Previously working with market access initiatives in Latin America for agricultural farmers, food security, and public health, she left the development consulting path to follow her longtime wine calling. In 2011, she spent a harvest in the Western Cape of South Africa. There she discovered, of course, incredible wines, along with consistent themes from her former work, and an unmet customer need. Recognizing that wine drinkers today love to explore new regions, discover new wines, and care so much about the process behind the products they put into their bodies, she created the company with two aims: to make it easier for wine lovers and talented producers to find one another; and support sustainable growers from up-and-coming regions. In 2015, she was recognized by Crain’s as one of 10 entrepreneurs changing the way New York does business. In 2020, she was named a 40 Under 40 Tastemaker by Wine Enthusiast. Mika graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Berkeley, with a double Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and International Development. Currently based in New York City, she has worked in Australia, Peru, Honduras, Guatemala, Jamaica, Uganda, and South Africa. She loves a great Chenin Blanc.
