About Us

Wine for the World helps you discover delicious, thoughtful wines from unconventional wine regions.

We’re a young wine import company working exclusively with boutique producers and artisanal family vineyards. We make our selections based on quality, responsible social and environmental business practices, limited production levels, and micro-market share in the US. 

In addition to our portfolio of imports, we produce a collaborative brand that brings together emerging winemakers from abroad and established winemakers from the US.  Our aim is to highlight talent, promote exchange, and make the wine world just a little smaller.

Our Philosophy

We work with producers that embrace environmentally sustainable practices.   They are certified by local and/or international organizations for sustainable viticulture practices. 

We look for winemaker-artists who approach wine like a painting. Each step is thoughtful, meticulous and their work expresses something unique, boutique and beautiful.

We believe that it’s important to be a responsible global citizen.  Our producers employ respectful work environments and fair labor practices for all workers – including living, not just minimum, wages.

The spirit of collaboration is a huge part of our DNA. We celebrate the world’s talent by bringing great minds together. Whether it’s collaborating as winemakers, or as a company, this is our way of making the world just a little smaller. 

Our producers work hard to create unique wines that receive a great deal of attention from grape to bottle. Large factory wines these are not. Our promise to you is that our wines are made with extreme care – which means there’s a limit on production.  

Our Founder

Mika Bulmash started Wine for the World with a passion for wine and a career in development. Previously working with market access initiatives in Latin America for agricultural farmers, food security, and public health, she left the development consulting path to follow her wine calling. She spent a harvest in the Western Cape of South Africa, only to discover consistent themes from her former work - and an unmet customer need. Recognizing that wine drinkers today love to explore and discover new wines, she created the company with two aims: to make it easier for wine lovers and talented producers to find one another; and support sustainable growers from up-and-coming regions. Mika graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Berkeley, with a double Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and International Development. Currently based in New York City, she has worked in Australia, Peru, Honduras, Guatemala, Jamaica, Uganda, and South Africa. She loves a great Chenin Blanc.
